Member News — Hackensack Meridian Health Names Dean Lin, FACHE, President of Care Transformation Services and Physician Practices

Hackensack Meridian Health, the most comprehensive and truly integrated non-profit health care network in New Jersey, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dean Lin, MHA, MBA, FACHE, FCPP, as president of Care Transformation Services and Physician Practices. In this role, he will be responsible for Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group, and scaling innovation and improvement with Children’s Hospitals and Pediatrics, Primary Care and other clinical areas. Mr. Lin is formerly the regional president of Ocean Medical Center and Southern Ocean Medical Center.
This appointment is in conjunction with Hackensack Meridian Health’s new organizational structure to better align its services and improve the overall experience for patients across its 16 hospitals and 500 patient care locations throughout New Jersey. This new structure consists of three markets – North, Central and South – and an integrated clinical transformation service that will help to align all of the network’s services around the patient to ensure better coordination and outcomes.
Mr. Lin’s extensive experience speaks to his visionary leadership, guidance and commitment to the community. In 2016, he assumed the role of regional president of Hackensack Meridian Health. He served as the president of Ocean Medical Center – a position he held since 2011. Under Mr. Lin’s leadership, Ocean Medical Center was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals for 2018-2019 as well as 2017-2018, ranking #8 in New Jersey for two consecutive years.
He lead clinical operations across two hospitals – Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ and Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ – a multispecialty health village and a free-standing emergency department. During his tenure at Hackensack Meridian Health, Lin’s operations delivered record growth and financial performance, elevated team member engagement to the top two percent nationally, earned numerous awards and recognition for quality and safety, and completed $125M+ in transformational construction projects.
Prior to Hackensack Meridian Health, Mr. Lin served in senior leadership roles in integrated delivery systems nationally recognized for innovation and quality. As System Vice President for Business Development at Geisinger Health System, Mr. Lin was part of the leadership team that drove innovation and entrepreneurship for the system. He had P&L responsibility for Geisinger Diversified Services, was a key member of Geisinger Ventures (a health system owned ventures group) and became Founder/CEO of one of its portfolio companies, CareWorks Convenient Healthcare (a retail health and clinic management company).
Prior to Geisinger, Mr. Lin served as a regional operations officer at Intermountain Health Care and was part of the senior team that oversaw four hospitals, 2,000 physicians and 7,000 employees. In addition, he was part of the IHC leadership team that drove Access Redesign, led vision development and implementation of IHC Core Laboratory and launched IHC Intellectual Asset Management, LLC. (for profit technology commercialization arm). Earlier in his career, Mr. Lin served as a Policy Fellow at the Alliance for Health Reform and a healthcare consultant with The Laurel Company.
Mr. Lin currently serves on the boards of Monmouth University and Fulfill (FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties). He previously served as board chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters Utah.
Mr. Lin earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan and dual master’s degrees, MBA and MHA, from the University of Minnesota. In 2011, Mr. Lin was elected to The Fellowship of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, one of the oldest professional medical organizations in the country.
