Member News — Columbia Bank Collection Efforts Benefits Seven Local Food Banks
August 23rd, 2018

Columbia Bank employees recently collected non-perishable food, household items and paper goods as part of the bank’s Fifteenth Annual Employee Food Drive.  Shown are some “Team Columbia” volunteers who helped with the collection and distribution process.

The items collected, along with cash and gift card donations of $1,067.00, were shared with seven New Jersey food banks — the Center for Food Action, the Center of United Methodist Aid in the Community (CUMAC), the St. James Food Pantry, the Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services (M.C.F.O.O.D.S.), 180 Turning Lives Around, the South Jersey Dream Center and the Maple Shade Food Bank.  As a result of this collection effort…

  • 200 bags of groceries were distributed to the Center for Food Action in Saddle Brook.
  • 948 pounds of groceries and bulk pack items were distributed to the Center of United Methodist Aid in the Community (CUMAC) in Paterson.
  • 750 pounds of grocery and household items were distributed to the Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services which supplies local food pantries throughout Middlesex County.
  • 68 bags of groceries were distributed to the St. James Food Pantry in Woodbridge.
  • 315 grocery and household items were distributed to 180 Turning Lives Around Food Pantry in Hazlet.
  • 25 pounds of non-perishable food was distributed to the South Jersey Dream Center Food Pantry in National Park.
  • Nearly 100 individual items and six cases of groceries were also distributed to the Maple Shade Community Food Bank.

“We recognize our corporate obligation to assist our neighbors in need,” said Thomas Kemly, Columbia Bank’s President and CEO.  “Helping to fight hunger in New Jersey is a priority for our bank.”
