Member News — Hackensack Meridian Health Teamed with NBC4 Telemundo 47 and the New York Giants for Sixth Annual Health and Fitness Expo

Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network, was proud to partner with NBC4 Telemundo 47 for the sixth annual Health & Fitness Expo at MetLife Stadium. The free event was presented by Quest Diagnostics on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 and featured family fitness activities throughout the stadium including a zipline, health screenings, free bicycle helmets and fittings, as well as autograph sessions with New York Giants greats.
“Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to providing the communities we serve with a range of resources to help them live a healthier lifestyle. We want to keep people out of the hospital,” said Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. “Thousands of people stopped by the Blue Point Room at MetLife to speak with our experts and obtain free health information and screenings. We were thrilled to participate in this family-friendly event for the sixth year in a row.”
“In keeping with our longstanding tradition of providing community outreach and education, we introduced our GamePlan for Health series at the Expo,” said John K. Lloyd, FACHE, co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. “Our GamePlans provide great tips to help men, women and kids get healthy. The Expo provided families the perfect opportunity to have fun while learning how to get healthier.”
As part of its GamePlan for Health program, Hackensack Meridian Health provided a range of health information and screenings during the Expo, including free memory screenings, smoking cessation coaching, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) assessments, lung cancer pre-screenings and skin cancer screenings. Asthma screenings were also performed in the A.I.R. (Asthma Information and Relief) Express Mobile Care Unit, now in its 14th year of operation. Attendees also sampled delicious dishes created on the cooking stage highlighting healthy cooking demonstrations.
Many of Hackensack Meridian Health’s experts were on hand and available for questions. Ihor S. Sawczuk, M.D., president of Hackensack University Medical Center and Harry Carson, New York Giant great, kicked off the event with a discussion about the importance of good health.
