LeClairRyan attorney Karol Corbin Walker is among 68 newly elected members of the American Law Institute, an independent organization producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law.
Walker, a LeClairRyan member who focuses her practice on business, employment, environmental and products liability litigation, will join the institute in drafting Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and Principles of Law that influence courts, legislatures, legal scholarship and education.
“Our membership is made up of an engaged group of distinguished and thoughtful volunteers,” said ALI President David F. Levi. “I am very pleased that this group of new members will bring diverse experience and views to the institute. The contributions of these highly accomplished academics, judges and legal professionals will add great value to our projects.”
Walker joined LeClairRyan in 2008, and currently serves on the firm’s Board of Managers. She has previously served as a member of the New Jersey State Ethics Commission, and became the first African American president of the New Jersey State Bar Association in its 105-year history in 2003.
