CarePoint Health’s Bayonne Medical Center was one of only 12 New Jersey hospitals who received a 2018 Top Hospitals Award, being recognized as a Top Teaching Hospital by national healthcare nonprofit, the Leapfrog Group. Bayonne Medical Center, who is receiving the award for a second consecutive year, was the only Hudson County hospital to receive a 2018 Top Hospital Award from Leapfrog.
The announcement comes on the heels of Bayonne Medical Center receiving an “A” for hospital safety from Leapfrog – the highest score possible – earlier this fall.
“Bayonne Medical Center is proud to being recognized as a Top Teaching Hospital where current and future medical professionals learn to provide safe and quality care with the best possible outcomes for our patients,” said Dr. Vijayant Singh, Chief Hospital Executive at Bayonne Medical Center. “It is truly testament to the dedication of our doctors, nurses and entire staff who collaborate as part of our teaching program.”
Only 118 U.S. hospitals were named a 2018 Top Hospital by Leapfrog and of that only 53 were named Top Teaching hospitals. Scoring includes a number of factors including performance across many areas of hospital care including surgical quality, preventing infections, use of technology to prevent errors and reduction of C-sections and leadership policies and practices.
“Leapfrog is proud to recognize the recipients of our most elite award for safety and quality,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We’re encouraged by the achievements of Top Hospitals, as well as all of the hospitals that compete for this award by submitting the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Their transparency and determination should be a point of pride in their communities.”
