Berkeley College recently donated $2,150.70 to Americares, a disaster relief and global health organization, for Hurricane Florence relief efforts. Donations were matched by the Larry L. Luing Family Foundation, for a total of $4,301.40. The mission of Americares is to saves lives and improve health for people affected by poverty or disaster. In addition to online donations, Berkeley College students rallied around the effort, holding bake sales and other fundraising events. During the storm, Americares teams delivered shipments of health and hygiene supplies to shelters, health clinics and nonprofit partners in the Carolinas. The organization is now focused on long-term recovery in the region.
