Member News -- News Station Reports On Matrix New ..

Two experts from Matrix New World Engineering were recently featured in a news segment on Verizon FIOS 1 Television. Senior survey technical specialist, Jose Vargas, shared his story of helping rebuild damage on commercial ports throughout Puerto Rico that were destroyed by Hurricane Maria last September. Paul Calabrese, Vice President, explained the importance of rebuilding in order to maintain Puerto Rico’s economic standing.

When asked about Matrix’s involvement, from both a professional and personal perspective,  Vargas stated, “…These people are in need of help, and we can provide that help.  The Puerto Rican people kept  thanking us for coming, for helping them out.” Vargas has family both in the States and in Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Maria, the worst natural disaster to ever hit Puerto Rico and parts of the Caribbean, destroyed lives, infrastructure and the economic lifeblood of the island.  This past spring, New Jersey-based Matrix, with its extensive history of restoration, including the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf and Superstorm Sandy in New York and New Jersey, was brought in by the US Maritime Administration (MARAD) to support multi-disciplinary damage assessments on commercial ports throughout Puerto Rico.

Matrix will be returning shortly to begin work on the restoration of commercial and recreational areas in Puerto Rico. Click here to view Matrix at work in Puerto Rico.
