Scores of employees from LG Electronics in Englewood Cliffs commemorated UN World Environment Day with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission along the Englewood Cliffs Boat Basin area. Employees cleaned and maintained trails from the Boat Basin Beach area, the team cleaned debris from the Hudson shoreline.
The activities align with LG’s core mission of fostering environmental responsibility and giving back to the community we all share.
World Environment Day, which takes place in June every year, is the United Nations’ most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment. LG employees around the world participated in thousands of person-hours of volunteer activities giving back to local communities to show solidarity with the goals of UN World Environment Day, celebrated every June since 2010.
Construction is under way on LG’s new North American Headquarters campus in Englewood Cliffs. The $300 million LEED Gold project will increase green areas on the 27-acre site by 50 percent and includes planting more than 1,000 trees. When completed, the new facility will allow LG to increase employment in Englewood Cliffs from 500 today to more than 1,100 by 2019-20.
