CarePoint Health has been named the winner of the NJ Biz Healthcare Heroes Award for Innovation. The award was presented Tuesday to Chief Operating Officer Peter Daniels at a ceremony held at the Somerset Palace in Somerset, New Jersey.
The Innovation category honors a company or individual primarily responsible for a medical science discovery or for development of a new procedure, device, service, program or treatment that can save lives or improve the quality of life for a large number of people.
CarePoint was nominated for its CarePoint Connect system, which is a unique and innovative telemedicine program that facilitates continued patient care after an emergency room visit. That technology allows patient care tracking and follow-up, to ensure that the patient connects with an emergency clinician one to three days after their emergency visit. CarePoint is currently the only hospital system in the New York metropolitan area using this technology in its emergency departments.
“We are honored to be recognized with this award and very proud of the CarePoint Health team who have spearheaded the use of this technology,” said Peter Daniels, Chief Operating Officer at CarePoint.
“We have a committed team of healthcare professionals who strive to provide quality healthcare to the communities we serve. Innovation in the way we deliver that care has been a hallmark and this award recognizes the contributions of those individuals.” Dr. Peter “Tucker” Woods, Chief Medical Officer at Christ Hospital, was also a finalist for the Healthcare Heroes Award for Healthcare Professional of the Year.
