Labor Stats show strong NJ economic health

The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) is encouraged by the state’s continuing labor achievements, as illustrated by the record 16-year low 4.1 percent unemployment rate and the unprecedented 4.34 million people employed – all clear indications that New Jersey economic health is strong.

“For five straight months, New Jersey has seen a drop in its unemployment rate, a sure sign of economic growth and confidence,” said CIANJ President Anthony Russo. CIANJ is a statewide business advocacy organization which represents more than 950 corporate members from every industry sector. The association is based in Paramus with a government affairs office in Trenton.

Gov. Chris Christie released the news of the historic job growth based on figures issued by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to the latest data, 313,400 new private sector jobs have been created in New Jersey since February 2010, which was the lowest point in the recession. The gains included 55,900 new jobs in the past year. The governor’s office also said a treasury department report shows New Jersey is on pace for its seventh consecutive year of increased new private sector business filings.
