Y International USA, a division of LuLu Group International, opened its first U.S. export food processing and logistics plant distribution center in Lyndhurst, N.J.
The goal of the export facility is to take U.S. based food products: purchase, process, re-label and export food, non-food, chilled and frozen products made across the world. The 75,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art center features spacious storage units and advanced machinery to process and handle dry, frozen, and perishable food products. Over the next few months, as operations begin to take off, the goal is to hire 200 to 250 new employees in the residential area.
The LuLu Group decided on New Jersey as its ideal location because of its proximity to major airports, seaports, and over-land connectivity, making it possible to ship fresh, frozen and grocery products under one order. The high-quality products available in the state also factored into the decision.
Y International worked closely with Choose New Jersey, Inc, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Commercial Service and the SelectUSA program, and state, county and local officials to bring its center and potential job growth opportunity to New Jersey.
“We welcome Y International to New Jersey’s business community,” said Michele Brown, president and CEO of Choose New Jersey, Inc. “In addition to bringing new jobs to our state, Y International’s export distribution center will give New Jersey and U.S. manufacturers the opportunity to reach new markets in the Middle East and beyond.”
“Y International USA’s decision to establish their first export distribution center in the U.S. offers the company exciting new opportunities in the world’s largest consumer market, as well as enhanced access to hundreds of millions of global consumers,” said Vinai Thummalapally, executive director, SelectUSA.
“We look forward to working closely with all parties as the investment progresses – and extend our warmest congratulations to Lulu Group International, Choose New Jersey, and the community of Lyndhurst.”
