Suez has supplied comprehensive and ongoing support to “WomenRising”, an organization that assists women and their families in Hudson County to achieve self-sufficiency and live safe, fulfilling, and productive life. Some support Suez has provided includes donating proceeds from Friday “jean” days, collecting backpacks for children and holiday gifts, donating computers and printing services, and supporting the organization’s “Celebration for Service Gala”.
Walters Group proudly supports its local communities throughout Ocean County, NJ. The firm’s corporate giving program has provided over $400,000 to more than 100 organizations, including Annual participation in Relay For Life-American Cancer Society; Girl Scouts of Jersey Shore; Toys for Tots; Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, to name a few. Last year’s donations resulted in over $41,000 for local and national charities.
Wellness Interactive, Inc.:
For the last 10 years, Wellness Interactive has supported the local Essex County community with delivering green baskets during the hurricane Sandy disaster, supporting Siera House with clothing and green baskets for displaced teenage girls. Wellness Interactive is also a dedicated supporter of the United Nations, in which the companies CEO Desiree Watson helped to raise over $250,000 to help build schools in Africa, address sustainability and health issues local and abroad.
This year, WeiserMazars LLP held its first Day of Services, a volunteer initiative that gave employees the opportunity to devote a full work day to assisting local service agencies. 448 employees participated in the service event, each spending the day at one of 32 community and non-profit programs. In New Jersey, employees volunteered at the Piscataway Senior Center, Homefirst Interfaith Housing Family Services, Edison YMCA, and Collier Youth Family Services.
Valley National Bank:
Its tradition at National Valley Bank to serve the needs of the local community. As part of its commitment, Valley held its seventh annual breast cancer walk titled “Valley Goes Pink”. Over 700 employees, family members and friends participated to raise money for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). This years’ event raised over $110,000 in support of research to further progress in the mission to decipher breast cancer biology.
Sobel & Co. LLC:
More than 100 Sobel & Co. employees were at the South Mountain YMCA to participate in the firm’s Annual Day of Community Service. Volunteers helped with painting conference rooms and an exterior fence, designing sports banners for the recreation area, mulching, clearing the attic, and many other tasks. The estimated cost savings for the YMCA was about $15,000 plus three hundred man hours of labor. Sobel & Co. also helped raise significant funds for camp scholarships.
Terrie O’Connor Realtors:
Terrie O’Connor Realtors works to maintain its passion for giving back to the communities it serves. Terrie O’Connor, founder of Terrie O’Connor Realtors, was recently recognized by the Greater Mahwah Chamber of Commerce as “Humanitarian of the Year” due to the many organizations she supports. Employees volunteer with activities to combat hunger, assist in child welfare, and provide community support. Some example include holding a blood drive, collecting toys, making up Thanksgiving dinners, and collecting canned goods and coats for donation.
The firm O’Connor Davies and its partners donate close to $1 million annually to support the many communities they serve. Employees are encouraged to nominate a charity to be the focus of each week. When chosen, the firm sends out communication to all employees and motivates them to rally for the cause. Some of the charities supported include, Wounded Warriors, Casting for Recovery, Walk to Defeat ALS. Make a Wish, and Habitat for Humanity.
MWWPR’s Matters More philosophy encourages employees to take part in local community projects. The program provides employees with paid time off to volunteer for a chosen cause. MWWPR also commits to annual initiatives including, collecting supplies and holiday gifts for the “Tools for School” campaign and “Letters to Santa” program, volunteering for Food Drives at New Jersey’s Center for Action, and more. Employees even join CEO, Michael Kempner throughout the year in serving meal to the needy in order to give back to the less fortunate.
In developing countries such as Haiti, Merit Global works with local MGE partners to provide clothes, food, medical equipment and toy to those in need. In efforts to help with Haiti’s recovery, the firm is currently campaigning to implement a solar powered instant pure water solution. The solution will provide clean pure water to all schools in Haiti, thus making schools into community centers where teachers and parents can discuss their child’s progress while getting clean water for their homes.
Striving to remain active in its local communities, Mariner’s Bank conducted several philanthropic activities during 2015 including; making a donation towards Giants of Generosity, presenting scholarships to graduates of various Bergen County high schools, volunteering at NJBankers’ Bankers Build for Bergen Habitat for Humanity, to name a few. Levine Jacobs encourages its employees to volunteer and even helps support their efforts. This year, firm employees worked to raise awareness for breast cancer, worked at food drives, participated at toys drives, handed out dictionaries to 3rd graders, and collected clothing for a women’s shelter. Levine Jacobs is also a regular sponsor for the Fall Tune Up, a soccer tournament for children, and for local Little League teams.
To help educate the public on cyber security, Kearny Bank organized a series of seminars explaining cyber scams and how to avoid them. The presentation also shares ways to combat these crimes by reporting to organizations working to catch the perpetrators. Kearny Banks has additionally created handouts and lobby materials for customers that detail the pitfalls in cyber space. To date, the bank has presented at seven different locations in five New Jersey counties.
Jack Daniels Motors:
Good Neighbor Program, a revolutionary program created by Jack Daniels Motors, works to establish a relationship between local companies and non-profit organizations. With over forty organizations involved, the program has designed initiatives to honor and support educators, healthcare professionals, and veterans. In a recent quarter, the program focused on honoring veterans and current military by recruiting local schools to create art work for sending overseas and to veterans.
DSM Group employees are extremely active in their local communities. The firm sponsors an annual charity fashion show called “Behind the Seams”, which helps to support Eva’s Village, a non-profit that provides social service programs to the less fortunate. Since its inception, the Behind the Seams program has raised over $600,000 to help those in need.
Georgian Court University:
At Georgian Court University, service is integrated with academics, athletics and student life. GCU invests thousands of hours each year to help nonprofit organizations in the region including Special Olympics, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Jersey Shore Animal Center, Popcorn Park Zoo, and the Red Cross. The university also partnered with Lakewood public schools to create Lakewood Together, which addresses academic performance and college and career readiness. Additionally, student volunteers conduct work in GCU’s Mercy Garden, providing fresh produce to families in need.
With a full-time “Care” committee and organizing member in every office, Citrin Cooperman is a company that cares. Citrin’s annual “Day of Caring” unites the whole firm for a day of direct community service. On the day, nearly 700 employees volunteer time to over twelve charities devoted to fighting hunger, homelessness, and child illness. The firm also donates $250,000 to the various charities so that the difference it makes reaches beyond a Day of Caring.
Each year, Felician University’s Young Entrepreneurs Club partners with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to offer free tax preparation to those who qualify. Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, students are trained by IRS personnel to prepare tax returns for low income, elderly, disabled and limited-English-speaking community members. Not only is this service valuable to the community, but it give Felician students an opportunity to apply course concepts to real life experiences.
Argent Associates supports Seton Hall University through student scholarships and leadership development. The program helps develop extraordinary leaders, instilled with a strong commitment to the service community through mentorship and coaching for students. Argent is also a supporter of HISPA, an organization that connects educators and business leaders and gives students access to role models.
Atlantic Stewardship Bank:
For 30 years, Atlantic Stewardship Bank (ASB) has been supporting local communities and towns in northern New Jersey through its “Tithing Program”. Through the program, ASB shares ten percent of its pre-taxable income with Christian and local non-profit organizations. Since its inception, over $8.2 million have been given to recipients that fall under the categories of missions, Christian schools, and healthcare facilities. In addition, ASB offers financial support to libraries, ambulance corps., fire departments and civic organizations local to its branches.
Bank of America:
Volunteering over 64,000 hours in 2014, employees volunteers from Bank of America help make an impact in New Jersey communities. Last spring, in partnership with Junior Achievement of New Jersey (JANJ), Bank of America employees volunteered at several “JA in a Day” events in Newark and Trenton; in which staff taught students the fundamentals of business, economics and money-management. In total, 180 employees volunteered time to over 1,700 students across Robeson Elementary, Parker Elementary, and Park Elementary schools.
Bank of New Jersey:
Over the years, Bank of New Jersey has supported the communities it serves; making monetary donations and providing items and promotional support hundreds of organizations and municipalities throughout Bergen County. This year, the bank proudly supported “iPiggiBank”, a financial literacy organization that provides youth with money management skills during after school programs. The goal of the program is to teach children at an early age to become responsible consumers and the importance of making charitable contributions.
In 2014, PSEG adopted a volunteer time release practice, which allows employees to earn up to eight hours of paid time while volunteering at company approved activities. For the year, PSEG employees logged more than 24,000 volunteer hours and made community investments totaling more than seven million dollars. The company also hold its annual Recognizing Excellence in Volunteerism awards, in which it donates cash awards to non-profits where employees have gone above and beyond in their local community volunteerism.
