The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at HackensackUMC announced the opening of its rooftop healing garden to benefit patients at the Audrey Hepburn Children’s House.
The Healing Garden was designed by City Green to be a green oasis so that children can plant and nurture vegetables, paint, or just sit and meditate in this beautiful sanctuary. The different spaces within the garden include a sitting area for casual lunch or snacking, a lounge-like, confidential space for therapy sessions and a garden work area with potting bench and raised planter beds. These areas are surrounded by planters filled with native pollinator plants and shrubs, which will include the Highbush Blueberry plant, Purplecone flower, Black-eyed Susan flower, Beebalm flower, Little Bluestem grasses and more.
The Healing Garden will provide a place of refuge, and a way for children to experience nature, helping them to mitigate stress and heal.
