Hunter Group CPA LLC Supervisor Sophia Thomas put together a team of colleagues, family and friends to help her with a cause that is near to her heart. The team of accountants fundraised and participated in the March for Babies walk which was held on April 26, 2015 at Darlington Park in Mahwah. The March of Dimes funds medical research, supports families, and aids in treatment for premature babies. Their mission statement is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Sophia lost her daughter in 2003 due to prematurity. At that time she was unaware of the March of Dimes and what they are doing to help people who are in situations similar to hers. After meeting Lori Walker, the March of Dimes Bergen County Community Director and learning about the organization she wanted to get involved. Sophia spearheaded the firm’s efforts and kept the team enthusiastic about fundraising. “It is so wonderful to know that there are resources available for women and families to aid in the most difficult time of their lives,” Sophia Thomas said. “It felt good to walk in my daughter’s memory and raise money to help others who are living the experience of having a premature child.”
