More than 500 business entrepreneurs, elected officials and community leaders gathered to celebrate the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey's (CIANJ) 82nd Annual Luncheon at the Hilton Woodcliff Lake. Republican gubernatorial candidate Christopher Christie spoke to the crowd in a keynote address, and shared his vision for the future of New Jersey and his plans to ensure a vibrant private-sector economy in the coming years.
The Association honored business leaders for their service during the past year and throughout their careers. Joseph Imperato, Jr. (X Solutions, Inc) was given the Chairman’s Outstanding Volunteer Award, for his extraordinary efforts in enhancing CIANJ during the year; Martin Kafafian (Beattie Padovano, LLC) was the recipient of the Chairman’s Outstanding Leadership Award for his service on the Board of Directors and in the development of CIANJ’s Real Property Council; and Henry Kusel was honored with the CIANJ Legacy Award for his career of service to the community and promoting free enterprise principles.
“Today’s luncheon featured both the past and future of business in New Jersey,” said CIANJ President John Galandak. “CIANJ is proud to showcase the past accomplishments of its members while gaining insights into Chris Christie’s vision for the future of the Garden State.”
The Association also highlighted contributions to the community made by various civic organizations. The 200 Club of Bergen County was celebrated and Lyndhurst Fire Chief Paul Hovarth, a Medal of Valor recipient, spoke about that group’s support of Bergen County’s emergency services personnel and their continuing mission. Hovarth was also recognized by CIANJ with the Distinguished Community Service Award.
“New Jersey’s businesses are dedicated to the communities in which they operate. The service, leadership and entrepreneurial spirit displayed today are testaments to the commitment of our members to New Jersey, the intellect of its people and the brightness of its future,” Galandak concluded.
