Editorial Requirements
The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey publishes articles highlighting member firms in the organization's monthly magazine, COMMERCE, without charge. Press releases for the magazine's Updates section may be submitted at any time.
Conditions and Deadlines
- Articles must be prepared and submitted, by member firms or their agents, on computer disk with hard copy and pictures included.
- Publisher retains the right to edit submissions and schedule publication date according to editorial balance and space availability.
- Members requesting a specific publication month must submit story four months in advance.
- Space reservations will not be accepted without submission of the article.
- Articles submitted less than four months in advance will be scheduled as soon as possible.
- Recipients of coverage must be Commerce and Industry Association members in good standing throughout the publication process.
Disks
- All articles must be submitted on a 3.5 disk or 100MB Zip disk
- IBM-compatible PC: WordPerfect or ASCII format
- Macintosh: WordPerfect or ClarisWorks
- Label disk and article with FIRM'S name.
- Include all written material (captions, sidebars, etc.) on disk.
Hard Copy
- 8-1/2" x 11" paper, typed, single-spaced.
- Indent paragraphs. Do not leave space between paragraphs.
- Article length: approximately 750 - 2,000 words.
- Include a clear, camera-ready copy of the firm's logo.
Photographs
- Submit (2-6) appropriate photographs with your story. Publisher will determine number and placement of photos used.
- Photos appear in black and white so black and white submissions are preferred. Color photos and transparencies are accepted.
- An additional charge will be applied to develop negatives or slides.
- Must be clear, "professional quality."
- Number back of photos in order of importance.
- Provide captions or ID's on the back of each photo and include captions on the disk and hard copy.
- Photos will not be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped, padded envelope.
Composition
- Layout, composition and artistic considerations are the sole responsibility of the publisher.
- No proofs are available due to deadline commitments.
