CIANJ welcomes new board members

The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) welcomed five new board members at the recent 90th Annual Luncheon celebration attended by more than 450 business leaders from throughout the state.
CIANJ has a board of 75 directors. The newly inducted members include: Ulises Diaz of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey; Steven C. Fleischer of Delta Dental of New Jersey Inc.; Todd Galante of Piro, Zinna, Cifelli, Paris & Genitempo, LLC; Michael G. Higgins of Anheuser-Busch; Kenneth E. Kobylowski of Amerihealth New Jersey; Kim V. Vierheilig of LAN Associates.
CIANJ Chairman Andrew Silverstein announced the names of the new board members during the business portion of the gala event at the Hilton in Woodcliff Lakes. Silverstein, who is a partner at Dorfman Abrams Music LLC, also surprised three board members with special awards given in recognition of their leadership and commitment to CIANJ. These award winners included: James D’Agostino, president of JD Companies, who received the Legacy Award; Sally Glick, principal and chief growth strategist for Sobel & Company, LLC, who received the Outstanding Leader Award; and Lanny S. Kurzwell, partner at McCarter & English, LLP, who was given the Volunteer Award.
The new board members bring their rich and diverse backgrounds to CIANJ.
● Ulises Diaz is Director of Enterprise Government Affairs at Horizon.
He leads the Government Affairs team, representing Horizon BCBSNJ before the New Jersey Legislature and various New Jersey departments and agencies. He and his team of Government Affairs professionals are responsible for outreach with the NJ Congressional delegation.
Prior to joining Horizon BCBSNJ, Mr. Diaz served as Vice President of Government Affairs at Verizon in New Jersey. He was responsible for NJ State Legislative and Regulatory functions. During his tenure at Verizon, Mr. Diaz passed several landmark pieces of legislation and regulations that created a level playing field in an otherwise heavily regulated industry. Mr. Diaz helped Verizon establish a strong State House operation, an effective political action committee and an aggressive local outreach plan. He enjoys strong relationships on both sides of the political aisle and throughout the state.
● Steven C. Fleischer is Chief Sales Officer at Delta Dental of New Jersey, Inc.
An accomplished, results-oriented senior sales and marketing executive with a proven record of consistent, over-achievement of objectives with an ability to consistently identify and implement innovative ideas that add value for clients. A self-motivated individual who can take and provide direction, contribute as an important member of an executive team and hire, train and inspire a highly successful sales force. A community leader engaged and supportive of many industry, business and community organizations.
● Todd M. Galante, is a Principal/Partner at Piro, Zinna, Cifelli, Paris & Genitempo, LLC.
Mr. Galante heads up the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights team. Mr. Galante also practices in the areas of complex business litigation, business restructuring/loan workouts, bankruptcy (reorganization/insolvency), fraud/embezzlement matters, real estate litigation, commercial foreclosure litigation, lender liability defense, franchise litigation, business entity/member litigation, consumer fraud and general equity litigation. He also represents several auto dealerships, banks and credit unions, and is “Special Counsel” to Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ and certain insurance companies.
● Michael G. Higgins, is General Manager of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Newark.
He is an accomplished and innovative leader with over 10 years of experience including General Manager, Department Leadership, Project Management, and Production Line Management. Mr. Higgins manages a Manage a team of eight Department Heads and three Managers to ensure all brewery related targets are met while focusing on their career development.
● Kenneth E. Kobylowski is Senior Vice President, provider contracting and network operations at AmeriHealth New Jersey. He serves as senior executive in charge of all hospital, doctor and ancillary provider contracting; hospital and provider service; medical cost analysis; and network and claims payment operations for the health insurance organization with approximately $1.4 billion in annual gross revenue and $1 billion in annual medical claims.
●Kim V. Vierheilig, is Vice President, AIA, LEED® AP BD+C
As Vice President of the corporation, Ms. Vierheilig oversees Design, Construction Documents, Construction Administration and Management of the Architectural Department. In addition, she is responsible for staffing, budgeting, Business Development, Public Relations, and oversees the Firm’s Marketing Department.
Ms. Vierheilig works on projects that lead the architectural department in helping clients exceed their expectations by designing spaces that are inspirational, functional and comfortable for users. She approaches projects with originality and creativity following a philosophy grounded in practicality and cost effectiveness. She has experience with numerous educational, senior living and hospitality clients developing new building sites and design improvements.
